The executive team at TFC Financial Management possesses an impressive depth and breadth of expertise in financial services.

James L. Joslin, CFP®, Chairman, CEO, and CCO

A founding principal of TFC Financial Management, James L. Joslin has more than 40 years of experience in private wealth management. His background includes investment analysis, portfolio management, and trust banking, as well as the domestic and international marketing of these services to individuals and institutions. Along with Renée Kwok, he is responsible for TFC's investment research and client portfolio management process.

Prior to joining TFC, Mr. Joslin was the principal of J.L. Joslin Associates, which provided consulting services to major financial companies serving affluent investors. Mr. Joslin also held senior portfolio management and marketing positions at Jennison Associates, Eaton Vance Corporation, Thorndike, Doran, Paine and Lewis, and Wellington Management Company - all major firms in the individual and tax-qualified money management business. A member of the CFA Institute, The Boston Economic Club, and past member of the BNA Tax Management Advisory Board, Mr. Joslin has frequently spoken at conferences and led seminars, addressing audiences at the Boston Security Analysts Society, the Harvard Business School Association, the Financial Planning Association, the Investment Counsel Association, the American Bar Association/ALI, and other organizations and events in New York, Washington, DC, and New Orleans.

Upon receiving his A.B. from Harvard College, Mr. Joslin was elected Class Secretary and served as a Naval Intelligence Officer in both the U.S. and Europe. He has served as vice president and member of the Board of Governors of the Handel & Haydn Society, and recently served as a director of the Harvard Musical Association and a member of the Glimmerglass Opera National Council.

Renée Kwok, CFP®, President

Renée Kwok joined TFC Financial Management in 1991. As President of the firm, she is responsible for overseeing the firm's financial planning and wealth management services. Ms. Kwok is also closely involved with a select number of TFC's largest clients, and provides investment research and analytical support as a member of TFC's Financial Planning and Investment Committees.

Ms. Kwok is a regular speaker on a range of wealth management and investment topics. She has presented to professional groups such as the Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education, Inc. and the Massachusetts Association of Women Lawyers; academic institutions such as Wellesley College as well as private groups. In 2001, Mutual Funds Magazine named Ms. Kwok as one of the "Best Financial Planners in the Northeast."

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Kwok was a consultant for a fee-based financial planning and investment management company serving health care professionals. She developed and implemented comprehensive financial programs, provided investment advisory services, assisted clients with banking activities and life insurance needs, and supervised the installation of the company's portfolio accounting and billing systems.

Previously Ms. Kwok served as a security analyst for the international investment management team at the Putnam Companies. At the time, the mutual fund company had $800 million invested in foreign equities.

Ms. Kwok began her career as an investment analyst at Asian Oceanic Limited, a merchant bank in Hong Kong, where she previously resided. She worked in the research and credit department, supporting the Corporate Finance, Commercial Lending, and Investment Management divisions. Ms. Kwok received her B.A. in Economics from Middlebury College and is fluent in Chinese.
